Seek Institute is actively recruiting members for our Advisory Board. We are pursuing applicants with experience in the following key areas: fundraising, policy, community engagement, marketing and communications. The Position

Members of the Advisory Board support Seek Institute and provide strategic leadership and governance reflective of the organization’s mission. Advisory Board members partner with the Executive Director and Director of Operations to effectively monitor and advise operations, finance, and fulfill the Seek Institute mission; strengthen connections between the organization and community stakeholders; and assist in developing strong fundraising and outreach strategies. Board members are expected to serve an average of 5 hours per month.

Responsibilities

  • Providing input to Executive Director on Seek Institute’s strategic plan and assisting in its implementation
  • Evaluating program effectiveness through outcome measures and deliverables developed by the organization and providing feedback to improve effectiveness
  • Approving Seek Institute annual budget and audit reports
  • Following non-profit organization legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Representing Seek Institute to stakeholders, partners, and the community-at-large
  • Conducting yearly performance evaluation of the organization
  • Working with staff and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Ensuring Seek Institute’s commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of its operations
  • Regular attendance and participation in quarterly board meetings and organization events
  • Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Assisting in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Participation

  • Advisory Board members will abide by responsibilities outlined in the Seek Institute Board Member Agreement.
  • Board members are expected to attend quarterly board meetings.
  • Service on Seek Institute’s Advisory Board is without remuneration
  • Qualifications

    Prospective Advisory Board members will be committed to Seek Institute’s mission of promoting mental health equity in communities. Seek Institute is open to those who have previous experience as well as those who want to gain experience of board leadership.

  • Integrity, reliability; is inquisitive, enthusiastic, and attentive
  • A passion for increasing access to quality mental health care for Central Texas communities
  • Willingness to steer and champion Seek Institute programs and events
  • Dedication to understanding and furthering the mission of Seek Institute
  • Commitment to and familiarity with the communities Seek Institute serves
  • Experience in business, professional or service industries; lived experience with mental health care services or systems; involvement in mental health advocacy
  • Availability to attend meetings and represent the organization at community and fundraising events
